Book Review #16 - The Power of your Sub-conscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy
Good Day,
The Power of your Subconscious Mind
by Dr. Joseph Murphy
Dr. Joseph Murphy has written the most life-changing book, if read with an open mind to pursue a deeper understanding of existence and life. (Highly Subjective).
Summary:
This self-help book is all about explaining the power of your subconscious mind through various examples, it also teaches how our conscious mind can harness that boundless power and infinite knowledge to live a life full of abundance, tranquility and positivity by enriching your mind, body and soul.
What is Subconscious mind?
Review:
If I had to review this book in short than I would choose these words "invigoratingly thought-provoking". I am super-excited to share my two cents on this book and the experience I had while reading it. Trip of this book is pretty simple, it accentuates the fact that any sorrow or joy in your life is a result of conscious mind leaving an impression on subconscious mind which in turn manifests that. That is why you might have heard the adage "You manifest your reality".
To give you a more clear understanding of the above paragraph just follow this example. There are two guys who apply for a particular job. Both of them are sitting in the reception area before the interview. Person K is positive that he is going to get the job and is full of confidence. While Person X is tense and nervous, constantly worrying how he would perform. In the end you can guess who gets the job.
Book has plenty of examples where people have treated their serious medical ailment just by sitting in a calm place and asserting to themselves that he is healthy and nothing is wrong with him. And in the end he is cured. You may find it far-fetched, yet the whole book is centered around the fact that if you believe in something very strongly than your subconscious will certainly manifest that reality for you. Some of you may argue that why should I work hard in gym for getting my desired physique. I should just assert that I am whatever your goal might be. My simple rebuttal would be that yes that will work in case you have a strong conviction. But by going to gym you strengthen your conviction, you convince your conscious mind which in turn persuades your subconscious. So I recommend that while reading this book be highly accepting. Unlearn everything that makes you skeptical.
Beauty of the book lies in the part that while reading the book, different people can have distinct understanding of the meaning of subconscious based on their thought process.
For me while reading the book I was able to correlate it to many theories regarding the soul we have in Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism). Subconscious is described to be of having infinite knowledge, boundless power yet it is naive, and has no concept of good or evil. It has no form but it forms everything. Does this ring any bell??? Shivji. According to Bhagvata Gita there is a spiritual godhead (Shivji for me. Lets go Shaivism. JK, everybody just do your thing) who has all these characteristics and many more (There are many more in the book, but these were the major eye-openers which I was able to recall). Soul is nothing but a fragment of that spiritual godhead . Further, everyone has soul. Connect the dots man. Your Soul is Subconscious mind which gives unlimited power provided you know how to draw it.
After reading the book, if we say that every example in the book is true and let us suppose that all the Purana's, Upanishads's are just stories than just think that how deeply our sages would have thought in their time to explain us the power of subconscious mind. Man this is some mind-boggling stuff.
P.S I am not a very religious person. I happen to have some understanding.
My opinion: GO READ IT. AFSAP
