Series Discussion #1 - Rick and Morty S3 Ep7: The Ricklantis Mixup

Good Day

Rick and Morty S3 Ep7: The Ricklantis Mixup

No book review this week. I got super lazy this week and read very few pages of "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill. It is very interesting but somehow I am not able to commit or motivate myself to read. So, here we are with a brand new segment of Series Discussion.
This way I can write a blog and mooch on other people's content. I have been wanting to do this for a very long time almost like a year.

🚨!!Spoilers Ahead!!🚨

The Ricklantis Mixup is by far my most favorite Rick and Morty episode. In 22 minutes, they achieved what a 2-hour or 3-hour movie may not do. In my opinion, it is one of the darkest episodes that I have seen and at the same time is very robust in making a political reality that skews towards our present-day society. BTW, Evil Morty is back babyyyy and now he becomes the president of Citadel of Rick which opens up the gates for more awesome episodes in the future.

Justin Roiland & Dan Harmon have comically made fun of the education system, racism, cops, & political system. The highlight for me in this episode is the part where they show that all Rick's working like normal humans and doing jobs which are way below their paygrade. Every Rick has the same IQ and yet there is a division of rich and working-class in that society. We all have wishes for which we are working hard to earn money that will help us buy our desired commodity or service which makes us feel happy or satisfied and lets us take a break from this fast life (For example, a hiking trip in wild). A waffle biscuit has shown to do this job in this episode. It is infused with a chemical that helps the consumer to relax and feel blissful and just simple. To buy it, Rick needs money, and for money, they need a job and that creates a divide. It has stripped them from everything that makes them Rick.

I have watched this episode for like 7 to 8 times and every time I see it, I infer something new, I come up with some new theory or build on the previous one. In the end, Evil Morty has killed all the Rick's who aren't on his side and stirs a glass of whiskey, while the show director is making fun of the villain monologue and 'For the Damaged Coda' by Blonde Redhead is playing in the background.

After the credit scene, the main Rick(C-137) dismisses everything that happened in the episode which is hilarious.

Best Line of the Episode: All your life's are lies! Don't you get it?! They told us we are special because we were Ricks, but they stripped us everything that made us Unique!

  1. What made me go "Woah!! " in that episode was that the main concept of the show is Morty being Rick's sidekick and yet a Morty wins the election and he has Ricks as his guards.
