Book Review #8 - Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

Good Day,
Atlas Shrugged
by Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand in her book 'Atlas Shrugged' has made her task to eviscerate the crescendo of moochers by creating a scenario which is culminating towards doomsday, hence she also wants to instill trepidation in our hearts so we abstain ourselves from taking that path.

Summary:
There has been a grave metamorphosis, world has changed from one which celebrates achievement, ability and mind to one which gives utmost importance to need. People of mind and ability are disappearing. In midst of all this Dagny Taggart, Operating Vice President of Taggart Transcontinental is very much determined to save her company from the oppression of moocher's. Despite the fact that there are no men of ability available and everyone is chanting in a state of despair and confusion, Who is John Galt?

Who is John Galt? Is he a destroyer who will turn the world in a state of oblivion or is he the redeemer of mankind, who will bring things to order?

Review:
Book contains a plethora of information regarding surroundings, emotions, way of speaking. There are instances when the descriptions have increased the "feel" of the moment, yet there have been situations where I feel like how has she(Author) been able to quantify such things for example she writes"her voice was like a drop, drop not of water but of mayonnaise". This book could have been easily condensed and be made much more appealing as 1069 pages is a bit too much. Still I would appreciate the fact that the description of every slightest detail has been very lucid.

Such extravagant description affects the flow of the story, it becomes very slow especially when you are waiting for some revelation. This has happened multiple times throughout the book which I find may not be in the interest of the reader.

One loophole in the story is if they are the man of mind, ability and action then  why did start vanishing, rather they should have acted in the first case if injustice. You can refute this by saying that in order to preach her philosophy in form of a book, but there could have been some way.

This book can act as an eye opener, as it is very #relatable. We Indians can obviously relate to this book as I have mentioned in summary, people are giving more importance to need rather than ability and mind. Being a philosophical fiction, this book certainly gives you a lot to think about, it has been a mind-opening experience. It makes you wonder about things which were non-existent until you read this book. By things I mean certain behaviours, traits, some action which we perform, to make this more clear I would say that this novel has been entirely successful to convey(I would like to use words like teach) that how people are compelled by their integrity, virtue's to act in an unpredictable way. Same is true for instincts, desire and ambition.(for further discussion you can comment down or contact me)

Despite there are times you feel grievance for its character and book becomes depressing, still I would say that this book is very motivating. It gives you a sense of entitlement, that your ability and mind will prevail over sycophants and moochers as they can only imitate.

I would love to end this review by a statement from this book.

"The only man never to be  redeemed is the man without passion".

Opinion: Must read.
